Nippon Wireless launches high-precision optical lens position detection system

21ic News New Japan Wireless Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tokyo Metropolitan Area Representative Director, Ogura Ryo) developed an optical lens position detection system called "Opt-Pass", which is most suitable for digital cameras and Lens position detection during autofocus and zooming of optical photographic equipment such as monitor cameras.

The current lens position detecting system mainly adopts a magnetic control method in which a magnet and a magnetic sensor are used in combination, and there are two major problems in the magnetic interference from the driving motor and the mounting accuracy of the position detecting system. "Opt-Pass" uses a combination of mirroring device and reflective sensor to completely solve the problem of the existing lens position detection system.

The "Opt-Pass" system is composed of a reflection sensor NJL9101R combined with a large-output infrared LED and a silicon light-receiving element, and a dedicated stripe mirror device NJL9600 series (see Fig. 1). The 3-way output of the reflection sensor is processed to detect the lens position with high precision and high resolution. In addition, the stripe mirror device is available in two size types with different detection distances.

1. Not affected by magnetic interference

Nowadays, as the image sensor becomes larger and the lens is gradually enlarged, a powerful driving motor is gradually required. The "Opt-Pass" of the light sensor is not affected by the magnetic interference from the powerful motor, so there is no need to worry about the installation position of the sensor, and the magnetic field analysis is no longer required during design.

2. The accuracy is rarely affected by the variation of the device gap, and the accuracy is not changed by the rotation around the Y-axis (Yaw) direction*1.

In the magnetron mode, the gap accuracy between the devices is required. However, in the light control mode, the output variation caused by the gap variation between the reflective sensor and the mirror device is only 1/20 of the magnetic control mode, so that the gap between the devices can be omitted. adjust.

Moreover, the fluctuation (rotation) around the Y-axis (yaw) direction does not cause an output fluctuation, so that the installation and adjustment of the photo-controlled sensor is easier than the magnetic control method. (Refer to Figure 2)

3. High precision detection with 3 sine wave outputs

In addition to the reference 0° sine wave detection process, the position information also adopts a sine wave detection of 90°/180° different phases, so that high-precision detection can be realized. (図3 reference)

*1 Rotation around the Y-axis (yaw) means rotating around the vertical axis (Y-axis) for objects that determine the front, back, left and right, and up and down directions. In addition, rotation around the left and right axis (X axis) is called pitch, and rotation around the front and rear axis (Z axis) is called roll.
