Bloomberg reported that analysts from Goldman Sachs, a prominent investment bank, recently stated that Apple will likely release a new generation of iPad tablet in the second quarter of next year.
Henry King, an analyst at Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong, and Kevin Lu, an analyst in Taipei, believe that the new generation of 9.7-inch iPad will be even lighter, with a built-in camera and mini-USB port. Foxconn will probably produce for its OEM.
Since its launch, the iPad has made great strides and sales have been staggering. Many manufacturers have postponed the launch of the tablet in order to avoid its light. However, the iPad also faces competition from manufacturers such as Hewlett-Packard and Samsung, and RIM has just released a new 7-inch tablet today.
Analysts also revealed that Apple also has a 7-inch version of the iPad that is currently being designed for smaller screens, but it has not yet been finalized.
According to Goldman Sachs’ forecast, sales of tablet computers will reach 16 million units this year and will increase to 35 million next year.
