The beautiful night view of Hangzhou Meizhou Chapel

Located in the wooded city of Hangzhou, the Meizhou Chapel is designed not only to be integrated into the environment, but also to serve the community. Designed by TDS, the owner is Zhejiang Vanke. This church serves the surrounding community while serving the religion. The church strives to integrate into the natural environment, not only paying attention to function and user experience, but also selecting low-carbon materials to minimize the impact on the environment. At the same time, the architects have done extensive research to blur the landscape and architectural boundaries, allowing seamless access to buildings and landscapes. The church has two main points, one is the integration of indoor space and nature, and the second is the expression of eternal and pure.

The church consists of three single buildings (Beautiful Chapel, small garden church, office) and a bell tower. Two of the buildings are small, each with a different material but uniform. The Meizhou Chapel is a large open-plan building that seamlessly interfaces with the natural gateway. Simple flat, expansive interior space, light and natural flow among them. A large vertical skylight is located above the ends.

Compared to the tall churches in the beautiful chapel, the small garden church and the office building are small, and the floor-to-ceiling windows encourage better connection with nature. Although they seem to be the evolution of the cathedral, they all have their own merits. The courtyard connects the entire complex and the landscape is unique everywhere. In the landscape sequence experience, give people more feelings.

At the same time, we explore the eternal and pure meaning, so that the architecture and structure are in harmony with the four seasons. Give the people a shock. The architects also pay attention to the details. The wooden structure removes all the decorative elements. It is very simple and solemn. Compared with Chinese architecture, this building looks quite Japanese. The roof space is an exquisite serialized 11M x 35M space. Outside the wooden structure, the walls are also undecorated wood and the floor is white tiles. Wood, light, open interior spaces, and changing landscapes of the seasons, a total of eternal music. The church is perfectly integrated into the surrounding forest, while the contrast between the exterior concrete and the interior wood reflects the contrast between light and heavy. The unfinished landscape stone expresses the characteristics of each stone itself elegantly.
