ON Semiconductor has launched a new CMOS image sensor platform that elevates the performance and image quality of automotive applications like ADAS, mirror replacement, rearview, and surround vision systems, as well as autonomous driving. The Hayabusaâ„¢ platform introduces a groundbreaking 3.0-micron back-illuminated pixel design, offering the industry's highest 100,000-electron charge capacity. This innovation delivers 120 dB Ultra High Dynamic Range (UHDR) and LED Flicker Removal (LFM) imaging, with options ranging from 1 MP to 5 MP. Additional key features include on-chip HDR, real-time functional safety, and automotive-grade certification.
Ross Jatou, Vice President and General Manager of ON Semiconductor’s Automotive Solutions Division, stated, "The Hayabusa series empowers automakers to meet evolving ADAS standards such as the European NCAP 2020 while enabling next-gen features like electronic rearview mirrors and high-resolution surround vision systems. With optical sizes ranging from 1/2 inch to 1/4 inch, it reduces development time across multiple platforms, accelerating time to market. ON Semiconductor has already deployed similar pixel-based sensors in high-end digital cameras for filmmaking and TV. Now, we are applying this proven architecture to meet automotive standards."
The high-charge-capacitance pixel design allows each Hayabusa sensor to deliver superior exposure, ensuring 120-dB HDR and LFM imaging even in challenging lighting conditions without compromising low-light sensitivity. The platform's ability to synchronize HDR and LFM is crucial for safety, as it ensures accurate detection of all objects and hazards in both dark and bright environments. Since LEDs are widely used in headlights, taillights, and traffic signals, the LFM function prevents flickering that could distract drivers or cause misinterpretation by machine vision systems.
The Hayabusa product line also includes real-time functional safety features compliant with ISO 26262, alerting the system processor to any sensor issues or errors. These features enable the system to achieve ASIL-C rating. Real-time error detection eliminates the need to wait for a full image transfer before analysis, allowing the processor to respond faster. This is especially vital for highway driving, where even a one-second delay at 100 feet can make a significant difference.
The first product in the Hayabusa series is the 2.6 megapixel AR0233 CMOS image sensor, which operates at 60 fps and offers ultra-high dynamic range and LED flicker elimination. It includes all the advanced features of the Hayabusa platform. Preview customers can now request samples. For more information, contact an ON Semiconductor sales representative.

Filter inductance is suitable for energy storage and filtering inductors in switching power supply, because of its high BS value and low loss.Compared with iron powder core and ferrite with the same volume and magnetic permeability, it has higher energy storage capacity. More widely used in AC inductors, output inductors, rotary transformers, pulse transformers, power factor positive circuits.
