This innovative tool is designed to test both 3G W-CDMA and 3.5G HSDPA base stations, offering a cost-effective alternative to traditional testing methods. The MD8391A functions as a Radio Network Controller (RNC), enabling communication between NodeB and the core network. It allows manufacturers to create a realistic testing environment without the need for expensive physical RNCs or core networks.
This solution simplifies the testing process by integrating with other Anritsu instruments such as the MS8609A digital mobile radio transmitter tester and the MG3700A vector signal generator. As a result, engineers can conduct comprehensive tests, including voice calls, video telephony, and IP packet transmission, all while reducing overall development and production costs.
The development of the MD8391A was driven by the growing demand for high-quality, low-cost base stations as 3G services expand globally. Previously, testing required costly simulators or real-world infrastructure, which limited accessibility. Now, with the MD8391A, manufacturers can perform essential W-CDMA and HSDPA tests efficiently and economically.
The product features an Iub interface that supports various transmission rates, including ATM and Ethernet, making it adaptable for current and future needs. With up to two interface modules, it’s possible to test multiple NodeB units simultaneously, increasing productivity. Additionally, the device supports remote control and scenario-based signaling tests, allowing for flexible and automated testing environments.
