What is the working principle of wireless doorbell?

A wireless doorbell is typically composed of three main components: the indoor unit, the outdoor unit, and the door lock controller. These parts work together to provide features such as intercom, video monitoring, photo capture, and remote unlocking. But how exactly do these functions come to life? Let’s take a closer look at the working principle of a wireless doorbell.

Working Principle of a Wireless Doorbell

Indoor Unit Functionality:

1) The indoor unit's wireless receiver captures voice or video signals transmitted from the outdoor unit. The main processor then processes these signals—decompressing, decoding, and removing any redundancy—before displaying the video on the screen and converting the audio into an analog signal for playback through the speaker.

2) When you press buttons like "call" or "unlock," the indoor unit sends control signals via its wireless transmitter to the outdoor unit.

3) The microphone in the indoor unit captures your voice, converts it into a digital format, and the main processor compresses the audio before sending it wirelessly to the outdoor unit.

Outdoor Unit Functionality:

1) The outdoor unit uses a microphone to pick up sound and a camera to capture video. These analog signals are converted into digital formats, processed by the main processor, compressed, and then sent out via the wireless transmitter.

2) When someone presses the doorbell button, the outdoor unit sends a control signal through the wireless transmitter to the indoor unit.

3) The outdoor unit receives audio signals from the indoor unit, which are then decompressed and converted back into analog form for playback through the speaker.

4) It also receives unlock commands from the indoor unit, which are processed and sent via a short-range wireless protocol (such as Zigbee) to the door lock controller to unlock the door.

Understanding how a wireless doorbell works not only helps you use it more effectively but also allows you to troubleshoot common issues. If you're unable to resolve a problem, it's always best to consult a professional technician for assistance.
