A colleague from our department returned to the office six months after being stationed in Tianjin. Due to the lack of broadband coverage in that remote area, he couldn't access the internet easily. For people who often travel and work in the field, having no stable internet connection is a real hassle.
I personally started using a Huawei E5577 WiFi router, while my colleague used the E5573S model (which comes with built-in WiFi). I borrowed his device to compare it with mine and see if there were any differences in performance or usability.
**Reasons for Purchase**
My colleague was planning to go to the China Unicom business office in Tianjin to sign up for a 4G ice cream package. The E5573S model he used is a custom version designed specifically for China Unicom, and it's still available on Jingdong for 388 yuan even after six months.

After using it for half a year, I noticed that the device has two antennas integrated into the Micro-USB port.

This is a customized model developed in collaboration with China Unicom and Huawei. It’s locked to China Unicom’s 4G signal, although it still supports 3G and 4G from China Telecom. However, it doesn’t support China Mobile’s 3G network.

It uses a standard SIM card slot.

The battery capacity is 1500mAh, and after half a year of use, it shows some signs of wear.

The back of the casing has the WiFi name and password written on it.

When the 4G signal is strong, the LED turns green.

But when the signal is weak, it turns red.
**User Experience**

On the first connection, the device automatically opens a web interface for configuration.

Using the Huawei HiLink app allows for better management compared to the older E5577 model. It also supports WiFi extension features.

It has smart power-saving features that help extend battery life.

Compared to the Huawei WiFi 2 E5577, this model lacks support for China Telecom’s 800MHz B5 band on 4G. It only supports China Unicom’s WCDMA 3G standard, meaning it can only use China Unicom’s 3G network if needed.
**Pros:**
1. Compact and easy to carry.
2. Can be managed via the Huawei HiLink app for enhanced control.
**Cons:**
1. Relatively expensive for its features.
2. Limited support for other carriers’ networks, especially China Telecom and China Mobile.
Overall, the Huawei E5573S is a good option for those who rely heavily on China Unicom’s 4G service, but may not be ideal for users needing broader carrier compatibility.
