The project is a bronze hexagonal library designed by CZWG Architects. Located near the Canadian waters of the UK, it is a four-story building with perforated skin containing anodized aluminum and a green roof. The two-story library is located on the top floor, surrounded by a mezzanine reading room, and a series of skylights bring natural light into the spiraling bookshelves and a central staircase. The first floor is the performance space and the coffee shop, and the community meeting room and office occupy the second floor space. The project started in the summer of 2009 and was completed in November 2011 with an area of ​​2,900 square meters. The overall image of the building is lively and passionate, providing a learning environment for every reader.
Due to the small area of ​​the building, the multi-angle illumination is difficult, so the lighting method embedded in the bookshelf is used, and the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Law are met. The upper shelf height is only 1.3 meters, which is convenient for wheelchairs. person. The average illuminance of books from top to bottom is 200 lux, in line with LG5 regulations. The chandelier provides a book with a back illuminance of 200 lux. The lighting of the cafe is the Optelma linear fluorescent system.
All 150 bookshelves in the library are equipped with ACDC's Lucina LED devices, each one-meter long, with a color temperature of 3000 K and a super-bright 66W version instead of the standard 33W. The iGuzzini's ground-shaped gemstone chandelier used in the library was originally designed for use at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport. The embedded ceiling light is a 125W TC-T fluorescent lamp.
