Seoul Semiconductor Co., Ltd. has introduced a high-power white LED called "AcrIChe," which can be directly driven by the available mains voltage (110V or 220V). It is available in 2W and 4W versions, with a design similar to standard high-power 1~3W LEDs. Some models feature a star-shaped structure mounted on an aluminum substrate, making them ideal for various lighting applications.
The Acriche high-power white LED operates similarly to the configuration shown in Figure 4. Instead of using a single die, it consists of multiple low-power blue LEDs connected in series, then coated with a yellow phosphor to produce white light. This design allows for a compact size. For example, a 4W Acriche LED contains four units connected in series, as illustrated below. Despite being an LED module, its shape resembles that of a typical 1~3W white LED, making it easy to integrate into existing lighting systems.
Acriche's Features and Applications
The key features of Acriche include direct drive from the AC mains without the need for an external AC/DC converter or driver circuit. It supports working voltages of 100VAC, 110VAC, 220VAC, and 230VAC, with a long lifespan of over 35,000 hours and a frequency range of 50/60Hz.
This module is widely used in general lighting, architectural lighting, street lighting, home illumination, decorative lighting, and signaling systems. Its versatility makes it suitable for both residential and commercial environments.
