According to recent international media reports, the long-anticipated showdown between two of the world's most iconic fighting robots has finally arrived after nearly two years of preparation. The battle began when Suidobashi Heavy Industries, a Japanese company, accepted a challenge from the U.S.-based firm MegaBots in a high-profile robotic combat contest. Now, both companies have officially announced that the event will take place on October 17th, local time in the United States — which translates to October 18th in Beijing time.
The competition will be streamed live on Twitch, allowing fans around the globe to watch the action as it happens. In addition, recorded footage will later be uploaded to YouTube and Facebook, ensuring that even those who miss the live broadcast can still catch all the excitement.
MegaBots has unveiled its entry, the "EaglePrime," a towering 4.8-meter-tall robot weighing in at 12 tons. On the opposing side is Kuratas, the Japanese-built robot developed by Suidobashi Heavy Industries. Standing at 4 meters tall and weighing 6.5 tons, Kuratas has been a fan favorite since its debut in 2012.
Initially designed as a remote-controlled vehicle with four wheels, Kuratas was later upgraded to function as a combat robot. It operates using a "master-slave system," allowing users to control it remotely via any device connected to a 3G network. Originally, the contest was planned to involve artillery fire, but Suidobashi requested a shift to direct combat. In response, MegaBots enhanced the robot with additional armor, increased firepower, and improved power systems to make it suitable for real-world battle scenarios.
This event marks a significant milestone in the development of humanoid combat robots, blending engineering innovation with entertainment. Fans are eagerly awaiting the clash, which promises to be an unforgettable spectacle of technology and skill.
