When I wrote this title, I could almost see the iPhonX + Anker charging kit moving away from me. (It feels like I have more hope than before.)

First, why did I buy a wireless charger? Even though the iPhone 8/X supports wireless charging, it shows how popular wireless charging has become. I started using one with the Samsung Note 8, so why didn't I get a wireless charging base sooner?

Then, why did I go for a fast wireless charger? Aunt Cabbage recommended over a dozen wireless chargers, but most of them were only 5W and didn’t support fast charging. Plus, if you spend thousands on a phone, wouldn’t you want a reliable charger?

At that time, my boss was talking about buying the Anker wireless charger. He said it supported fast charging and was reasonably priced. I got impulsive and didn’t do much research. I just placed the order without thinking twice.

I made a 10-yuan deposit on October 25th, and then paid the remaining 148 yuan on November 1st. In total, it cost 158 yuan — not cheap, but worth it.

The payment was made in the morning of November 1st, and the package arrived in the afternoon. Here’s what I received:

A small box, hard to imagine it costs 150 yuan.

The back of the box shows the main specs: Input: 5V2A, 9V1.8A; Output: 5V1A, 9V 1.1A. At the time, I just took pictures and didn’t really understand the significance of these numbers.

Inside the box, there's a wireless charger and a data cable.

The data cable is pretty standard — just for charging.

Let me take a look at the Anker 10W wireless fast charger. The contact surface is made of silicone, which gives good grip and keeps the phone from slipping. But... after just a day, the surface is already full of dust.

The side is made of aluminum alloy, with a nice texture.

The bottom is also silicone, preventing it from sliding off the table. There's a button on the bottom to turn off the LED light, which is great for sleeping at night.

The charging area is quite large, so my Note 8 sits very steadily on it.

This shows the LED band around the entire charging base.

When charging, the light ring looks cool, especially with the double-curtain Note 8 — it feels high-value and worth it.

Overall, the Anker 10W wireless fast charger is visually appealing and well-made. Before charging, I felt it was worth the price.

However, when I put my Note 8 on the charger, the phone gave me a shock: “Charging time: 2 hours and 39 minutes?” What's going on? At first, I worried that the Anker fast charge might not be compatible with the Note 8. It turned out to be basic 5W wireless charging. But the prompt on the screen says “Quick Wireless Charging” — does that mean it’s actually fast charging?

At that point, I checked the promotional materials for wireless fast charging. According to foreign media tests, the Samsung Note 8 (3300mAh) takes about 2 hours and 41 minutes to fully charge. The iPhone 8 (2691mAh) takes around 3 hours and 54 minutes. My own Huawei Mate 9 (4000mAh) uses a 5V 4.5A fast charger and can be fully charged in an hour. Even though the Note 8 has a smaller battery, the charger is conservative at 9V 1.67A. Still, it charges in just over an hour. So the 9V 1.1A wireless charging spec, which takes 2 hours and 41 minutes, seems normal.

But I still feel it’s not efficient enough. Using a cable, I can easily plug in and use the phone while it charges. With wireless charging, either I have to pick up the phone to stop charging or leave it on the charger and watch it. No matter which option I choose, I can’t adapt to it for nearly 3 hours. As for the 4-hour charging time on the iPhone X, I can only say “huh.”

Recalling Yu Chengdong’s speech at the Mate 10 conference, where he explained why the Mate 10 doesn’t have wireless charging: “The speed is too slow, and the user experience isn’t great. We had the technology six years ago, but it wasn’t significant enough to justify commercial use.” I really understand now — sometimes, even if you have the tech, it doesn’t bring real value to users.

Now, I feel the only use for the Anker wireless fast charger is to charge my phone at night. I don’t have to search for the cable or the charging port — just place the phone on the charger and it works. Charging during sleep is fine, as long as it takes around 6 hours. That’s the only way I can make it work for me.
