According to CREE, the resistance between the spring contacts of the lamp product and the printed circuit board (PCB) creates an arc that can cause overheating problems that can cause the lamp to melt, posing a fire and burn hazard. Users should stop using the product immediately and contact CREE for a free replacement.
The recalled luminaires were sold in two main ways, one by Home Depot for residential lighting users and the other by dealers for commercial lighting users.
In August 2015, OSRAM issued an emergency recall notice to recall 55,000 LED T8 fluorescent tubes that may melt due to overheating. According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, OSRAM Sylvania has received 34 customer complaints reports that its LED tubes are overheated or melted.
The recalled product is SubstiTUBE IS T8 LED, model 73312-1 or 73315-1. This product was sold between December 2014 and May 2015. About 46,300 units were sold in the United States, and about 8,700 LED tubes were sold in Canada.

According to industry insiders, "There are many recalls that occur because their products are not certified by DesignLightsConsortium (DLC) for strict product lifecycle, electrical safety and thermal resistance testing."
