MicroLED transfer breakthrough? British company Opto

According to Reuters, Optovate Ltd., a MicroLED optics expert based in Oxfordshire, has announced a groundbreaking technique that enables the parallel transfer of multiple MicroLEDs from a substrate onto a wafer in a single step, allowing for the creation of precise optical arrays.

Since 2008, Optovate has been actively developing its technology, with around 20 patents currently under review. The company has made two major advancements in the field of MicroLED technology, which could significantly impact the future of displays and lighting solutions.

First, Optovate has developed a unique transfer technology that allows MicroLEDs to be extracted from wafers and placed onto a backplane for use in displays and illumination systems. This method is scalable to larger substrates and offers a more cost-effective solution for MicroLED applications, making it a promising approach for mass production.

Second, the company has also created a process for producing and integrating precision optical arrays. These arrays combine the light output and reflections from individual MicroLEDs, offering enhanced performance for various applications such as LCD backlights, solid-state lighting, and advanced display technologies. The technology provides advantages like thinness, low profile, and controllable illumination, making it highly versatile.

These two innovations—MicroLED transfer and micro-optical component light control—can either be used together or independently, offering flexibility for different industry needs. This versatility positions Optovate at the forefront of MicroLED development.

Paul May, Commercial Director at Optovate Ltd., said: "With growing interest in MicroLED technology, Optovate believes the best way forward is to collaborate with the right partners to accelerate product development and bring a wide range of products to market quickly. If you're interested in exploring this technology, we'd love to hear from you."

Jonathan Harrold, co-founder of Optovate, added: "Our approach to MicroLED has been ahead of the curve for years, but things are changing now. Our patented technology has the potential to disrupt the entire display and LED lighting supply chain. We were among the first to recognize the critical role of optical components in MicroLED arrays and why they matter so much for both display and lighting systems."

Marine/RV Battery

The OREMA Marine/RV battery is an outstanding product in our range that consistently outperform traditional flooded, AGM batteries, and Gel batteries. They offer remarkable dual-purpose functionality, as they can provide both high energy for short-term starting and consistent power for longer-term cycling, making them versatile for various applications.

When it comes to starting performance, OREMA Marine/RV batteries excel by providing a high burst of current needed to start a vehicle's engine. This superior starting performance, even in harsh and demanding conditions, is a testament to their quality, reliability, and efficiency.

In terms of cycling performance, these batteries demonstrate exceptional ability. A battery's cycling performance refers to its capacity to go through multiple charge and discharge cycles without losing its ability to hold a charge. OREMA Marine/RV batteries, in this context, excel by retaining their capacity to hold and deliver power effectively even after numerous cycles. This superior cycling performance allows these batteries to deliver reliable power over a more extended period, making them ideal for applications that require consistent power delivery.

What sets OREMA Marine/RV batteries apart is their exceptional tolerance of a wide ambient temperature range. They remain unfazed and efficient, whether in scorching summer heat or freezing winter conditions. This temperature resilience makes them suitable for use in various climates and conditions, thereby ensuring uninterrupted and reliable performance no matter the weather.

Further bolstering their versatility and robustness is their high resistance to vibration. This is a vital feature in the boating, caravanning, and trucking world, where constant movement and bumps are part and parcel of the journey. Their vibration resistance ensures they can withstand such conditions and continue to operate optimally, making them a reliable power source in these challenging environments.

Another noteworthy feature is their capacity for Partial State of Charge (PSOC) operation. Unlike many traditional batteries that require full charging and discharging cycles, OREMA Marine/RV batteries can operate effectively even when partially charged. This flexibility means they can deliver power as needed, even if they haven't been fully charged, making them ideal for scenarios where full charging might not be possible.
