BMW wants to establish an exclusive lane for electric bicycles in China: control and management with AI

Undoubtedly, electric cars and self-driving cars are the new trend for future development. But at the same time, problems such as traffic jams also followed. Recently, Singapore announced that it will stop adding new private cars on the road from next year.

In other words, in some market environments, public transport and bicycles will become the main force of traffic. For this reason, BMW has launched the concept of Vision E3 Way. Under this scenario, the city will establish exclusive lanes for electric two-wheeled vehicles.

These exclusive lanes will be built on the existing roads. As a result, the road capacity can be improved, and collisions between cars and bicycles can also be avoided. During the construction of the dedicated lane, the safety system will also be taken into account. The maximum speed of the lane is limited to 25 kilometers and is managed by an AI control system. Not only that, BMW will also provide car rental services for customers who can change their time.

Dr. Markus Seidel, head of the China Technology Center at BMW Group, said that the BMW Vision E3 Way will open up a whole new dimension in crowded cities and provide an efficient, safe and convenient experience. It creates space for two rounds of zero-emission transportation. In 2050, China will have more than one billion people living in cities. The country will become the global incubator for many mobile innovations, as will the BMW Vision E3 Way.

Of course, the current BMW Vision E3 Way is still just an idea and there is still a long way to go before it can be realized.
