Attendance Management System Based on Mobile Location Service

Abstract: Aiming at the shortcomings of the traditional time and attendance system, a design method for time and attendance management based on next-generation network services is proposed. This method combines mobile positioning services and geographic information services to locate employees ’mobile terminals in real time and uses range search algorithms to determine employees Whether to generate attendance information in the designated work area. It can perform automatic or manual attendance in real time or at regular intervals, and can record and playback the work track of employees. It is a low-cost, high-flexibility, location-based telecommunications value-added service implemented by converged network services. Simulation results show that the method is feasible and effective.

Attendance management is an important link and guarantee for the operation and management of enterprises and institutions. It mainly includes two methods, one is the manual method, which is complicated, and it is difficult to ensure the accuracy and real-time data, which increases the management cost; the other It is a computer record attendance method using special attendance equipment, including punch card type, magnetic card type, barcode type, IC card type, induction card, fingerprint recognition, iris recognition, face recognition, etc., this method needs to set a fixed attendance time period and location , Time and attendance are not available anytime and anywhere, and equipment needs to be kept and maintained. Literature [1 ~ 2] implements the time and attendance system based on scanning barcodes. This type of time and attendance system that uses supporting equipment has the problems of consumables and queuing during peak hours. It is unavoidable to lose or replace the card [3]. In order to overcome the above drawbacks, attendance systems based on physiological feature recognition have appeared one after another. Fingerprint recognition systems as described in [4] do not require employees to hold special equipment, but this method is technically difficult, expensive, and relatively complex to deploy. Literature [5] designed a time and attendance system that can be flexibly configured and can be integrated with human resource systems. References [6-7] have implemented attendance systems that can be logged in at different geographic locations and network locations, all aiming to distribute attendance locations. At present, with the development of society, many mobile office occupations have emerged, such as sales and express delivery. Attendance management for such personnel is a problem that puzzles managers. They can flexibly complete multiple attendance tasks and are not limited to Time and space attendance system has become an urgent demand in the market.

With the evolution of telecommunications networks and the Internet to the next generation of networks, converged network services have been valued by academia and industry. How to quickly and flexibly develop novel and rich types of converged network services is a concern in the computer and telecommunications fields. Important issues [8]. LBS (locaTIon based service, also known as location service) is considered to bring the next climax to the development of value-added services and mobile Internet. LBS refers to a spatial information service where the mobile network obtains the location information of the mobile terminal user through a specific positioning technology and locates the physical location on an electronic map based on geographic information technology. As its core technology, positioning technology and GIS (geographic informaTIonSystem) technology, with the rapid development of mobile communication technology and the third generation mobile communication network (3G), the application is becoming more and more extensive [9-12].

The technical characteristics and development status of mobile positioning technology and GIS services have brought a broad space of innovation in content and form to LBS, and provided a guarantee for flexible and diverse LBS-based applications. However, it is not enough for LBS to provide location services only, and it is necessary to integrate LBS with various information systems.

This paper presents an implementation method of attendance management that combines LBS with the attendance management system, and designs and implements a prototype system. The system locates mobile terminals held by employees in real time, uses a range search algorithm to determine whether they are in the work area, and performs necessary statistics, report generation, and field employee work track playback. The system uses a communication network to check the attendance of employees at any time and obtain attendance information in a timely manner. At the same time, mobile terminals (such as mobile phones, personal digital assistants, etc.), as employees' personal specific items, have the characteristics of being carried with them. To realize automatic attendance for employees, only the mobile terminal needs to support the positioning function, and there is no need to modify the mobile terminal.

1 System Overview

1.1 System architecture

The prototype system described in this article implements LBS-based value-added services by integrating mobile positioning services and GIS services. The specific system architecture is shown in Figure 1:

Figure 1 System architecture

Figure 1 System architecture

The LBS protocol capability of the time and attendance system in Figure 1 does not directly interact with the operator's positioning gateway, but implements the LBS positioning function by calling the positioning capability provided by the positioning SP (ServiceProvider). The attendance management system is connected to the positioning SP through the Internet, and the positioning SP is connected to the operator's positioning gateway through the Internet. The positioning SP is responsible for processing positioning requests sent by the attendance management system server. The attendance management server is connected to the GIS server via the Internet. Mobile terminals with positioning functions, including mobile phones that support positioning, personal digital assistants (PAD), in-vehicle positioning equipment, etc., are connected to the telecommunications operator network through the 3G network. Managers can log in to the system through the client PC where the attendance management system is located to complete attendance management.

1.2 System functions

The system has the functions of time and attendance, time and attendance data storage and management, and time and attendance data display. The functional module composition is shown in Figure 2:
