Xiaomi Mi will enter the air-conditioning industry: Gree said that it is not easy to give birth

A few years back, during a high-profile bet on CCTV between Gree's Chairman Dong Mingzhu and Lei Jun, the founder of my company, things got interesting. Since then, Dong Mingzhu has bested Lei Jun multiple times, even venturing into the smartphone sector. He’s already released two generations of phones. Lei Jun, however, doesn’t appear to be backing down. The latest buzz? Xiaomi is reportedly making a move into the air conditioning industry! According to local media reports, a product named the "Mijia Full Inverter Air Conditioner" recently popped up on the national 3C quality certification list, with Changhong Electric as the manufacturer. I reached out to stakeholders at Sichuan Changhong, who confirmed that "some models of Xiaomi air conditioners are indeed being produced by Changhong." Xiaomi insiders also mentioned, "We might see more models of Mijia air conditioners hitting the market in the future." It seems Xiaomi’s Mi family is aiming to dominate the entire home appliance manufacturing landscape. Starting with small household gadgets, Mi’s ecosystem spans everything from bedrooms to kitchens to living rooms. Back in 2015, Xiaomi first tried dipping its toes into the air conditioning market by partnering with the U.S.-based iYoU brand to launch "i Youth Smart Air Conditioning," but the response wasn't exactly enthusiastic. As Xiaomi ventures into the air conditioning industry, insiders at Gree expressed a mix of sentiments, saying, "We welcome competition, but it won’t be easy for them to succeed." The air conditioning industry has been contracting overall. Statistics show that China’s air conditioning retail market saw a 4.8% decline in 2015 compared to the previous year. While there was a slight recovery in 2016, the overall growth remained sluggish. Breaking through this saturated market will be no small feat, much like the current smartphone industry where Gree and Midea dominate nearly 70% of the market share. For Xiaomi to disrupt this space would certainly be challenging. Just like Gree entering the mobile phone market, Xiaomi’s foray into air conditioners will likely face skepticism. Considering the layout of the Xiaomi ecosystem, the Mijia full inverter air conditioner is bound to hit the market at an affordable price point, following the trend set by their robot vacuums and laser TVs. To many manufacturers, Xiaomi has become a disruptive force in the market. However, in the manufacturing-intensive and cost-sensitive air conditioning industry, relying solely on contract manufacturing could prove too daunting. On the flip side, Xiaomi’s strength lies in its software expertise and its ability to connect various home devices. With smartphones as the hub, Xiaomi’s ultimate goal is to create a closed-loop smart home ecosystem. But air conditioners, being bulky traditional appliances, pose unique challenges. Even with Changhong’s support, Xiaomi lacks certain core technologies, such as compressor expertise, where Gree and Midea hold significant advantages. Xiaomi will need to invest heavily in the installation process and face the daunting task of building a robust after-sales service network. Air conditioners aren’t like smartphones. They differ significantly in lifecycle and after-sales servicing. Consumers tend to trust established brands like Gree or Midea when it comes to traditional appliances, not only for quality assurance but also for reliable maintenance and installation services. While Xiaomi emphasizes smart home integration, traditional companies are excelling in both basic functionality and intelligence. Moreover, smart homes remain largely conceptual, with more gimmicks than practical solutions. Xiaomi’s entry into the air conditioning market is bold, but it faces steep challenges. Time will tell whether they can carve out a niche in this competitive landscape.

Anti-blue Light Protective Film is a product developed based on reducing the harm of blue light to people. Compared with the emerging screen protectors on the market, in addition to anti-fingerprint, anti-scratch and other functions, the most distinctive function of anti-blue light screen protectors is blue light blocking. By absorbing and converting the blue light emitted from light sources such as mobile phones, computers, TVs, and LED lights, the anti-blue light protective film can greatly reduce the irritation of blue light to the eyes and control the deepening of myopia; in addition to preventing myopia, the anti-blue light protective film can also prevent myopia Absorption and conversion of ultraviolet rays to prevent skin dryness caused by ultraviolet reflection, resulting in skin pigmentation, chloasma and other problems.

All in all, blue light is indeed harmful to our eyes, but the Anti-blue Light Screen Protector can play a role in filtering blue light. As for the pots with visual fatigue and visual impairment, the blue light cannot be completely ignored. The best way is to try to control the time of playing with the mobile phone as much as possible.
