Digital TV Development Opportunities in China and South America Market in 2011

DiBcom, a provider of fixed and digital TV chips, held a press conference recently and announced that it will participate in the 2011 Spring Exhibition of IIC-China. This will be the company's debut at the IIC event. Ms. Xu Xiaye, Chief Representative of Deecon Shanghai Representative Office and General Manager of China, presided over the conference and introduced the company's latest low-cost tuning-demodulation system-on-chip (SoC) solution and the recent development of Dekang.

In the past few years, digital television has developed rapidly in South America, and more and more South American countries have adopted the ISDB-T standard. For the prospect of the South American market, Ms. Xu Xiaye said that in 2009 and before, the region was only a few sporadic markets; by 2010, the market in the region will reach a market scale of 2 million pieces; by 2011, the market will return to rationality. And normal, showing a steady growth. Among them, Brazil and Argentina have developed the most rapidly. With the approaching of the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games, the infrastructure in these two regions has basically been matured, so the competition in the terminal market will also increase.

For the increasingly prosperous South American market, at this IIC, Dekor will introduce its new Tuning-Demodulation SoC-DIB8096P. The chip supports the ISDB-T full-seg (and one-seg) standard, provides high-performance digital TV solutions for fixed receivers, and can be integrated into set-top boxes, TVs, and PCTVs at very low cost. The DIB8096P is a 64-pin, 9x9mm QFN package that can operate in parallel mode. Two ISDB-T chips can be daisy chained to provide diversity or dual signal reception: if MRC classification is enabled, data is provided to the single output through dual antennas Streaming output significantly improves sensitivity; if dual signal reception is enabled, data is received on both chips to provide PVR (personal video recorder) or PiP (picture-in-picture) high-end solutions. The DIB8096P integrates the latest generation of low-power wireless and cable-band tuners. The excellent linearity ensures excellent near-frequency performance. It is claimed that the zero-IF architecture achieves the lowest noise level. While ensuring high-performance reception quality, the cost is significantly reduced. It is reported that the cost of the chip is only 1 US dollar, which saves 20 to 30% of the cost compared to the previous chip.

On the other hand, in the face of the Chinese market, Ms. Xu Xiaye believes that the outlook is still uncertain and the variables are still very large. At the same time, it also shows that the market has great opportunities. In 2009, Deecon released its programmable chip platform "Octopus" to help customers meet the challenges of various digital TV standards in the world; in the second and third quarter of this year, Dekor will launch the second-generation programmable platform "Octopus II". In addition, in 2011, Dekang will launch CTTB standard chips for the Chinese market, and actively explore the Chinese flat-panel TVs and automotive mobile TV market.
